Broken Pieces, Faithful Hands

2 min read

A personal tapestry of faith, healing, and hope - how God remained present through broken seasons, changed the way I saw my worth, and taught me to trust Him with the pieces of a story still being written.

Seeing His Hand in the Shadows

When I look at my life today, I do not only see the places where I was broken. I see the places where God kept His hand on me.

There were seasons when I could not understand why my life looked the way it did. I prayed. I questioned. I cried. Sometimes, all I could do was keep going. I did not always recognize God’s work while I was living through it. Now I understand something I could not see then:

God was not absent from my broken places.

He was teaching me that my worth was never determined by how another person treated me. He was showing me that being loved by Him did not depend on someone else choosing me, understanding me, or giving me the kind of love I hoped for.

A Shift in Prayer

And slowly, my prayers changed. I stopped looking to God only for an escape from what hurt. I began asking Him to shape the life ahead of me:

  • Give me discernment.

  • Give me peace.

  • Show me where I belong.

  • Teach me what healthy looks like.

  • Help me recognize the people You place in my path.

  • And above everything else, keep my heart close to You.

The Meaning of the Patchwork

My stitch is not that every broken piece disappeared. My stitch is that the broken pieces did not destroy my faith.

I still hope. I still believe people can love each other with kindness, respect, patience, and care. I still believe belonging is possible. I still believe God can lead us into places we never imagined while we were standing in the middle of our pain.

I have learned that healing does not always arrive as one dramatic moment. Sometimes God restores us quietly—one realization, one boundary, one prayer, one courageous decision at a time. That is part of what Patchwork Angels means to me.

A patchwork is not made because every piece began perfectly. It becomes beautiful because the pieces are gathered, given purpose, and stitched together.

Trusting the Hands That Hold My Story

I cannot change where every piece of my story came from. But I can decide whose hands I trust with them.

God’s.

Today, I am not asking Him to erase my story. I am thanking Him for carrying me through it, teaching me through it, and showing me that what happened behind me does not get to determine everything waiting ahead of me.

I am still becoming.

I am still believing.

I am still following.

And that is my patch: Broken pieces can remain part of my story without becoming the end of my story.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God..."

— Romans 8:28 KJV

Broken Pieces. Faithful Hands. And a heart that still believes.

I keep coming back to the idea that healing is rarely one dramatic moment. It is often a series of small decisions: tell the truth, ask for help, set a boundary, check on someone, try again tomorrow. That is what this post brings to mind for me.

There is a difference between reading something and letting it change how we show up for people. Broken Pieces, Faithful Hands is a good reminder to notice what is happening beneath the surface, especially when someone is struggling to put their experience into words.

One thing I appreciate about Broken Pieces, Faithful Hands is that it does not ask us to look away from uncomfortable truths. Awareness matters, but awareness should lead somewhere—toward compassion, safer choices, stronger boundaries, and support.

This one deserves a real conversation. Broken Pieces, Faithful Hands raises the kind of issue people often carry quietly, and silence can make hard things feel even heavier. What part of this message stayed with you after you finished reading? One line of thought from the post that especially deserves reflection is this: A personal tapestry of faith, healing, and hope - how God remained present through broken seasons, changed the way I saw my worth, and taught me to trust Him with the pieces of a story still being written.
