We’re Not Counting Down. We’re Counting UP.

Patchwork Angels beta launch 9/11/2026 – A Day of Loss, An Offering of Hope

Most people count down to something big. Ten days left. Five days left. Tomorrow.

But beginning today, we’re doing something a little different.

We’re counting UP.

Today is Stitch 01 of 14. Tomorrow, we’ll add another. And then another.

For fourteen days, we’re going to build something right here in front of you—one piece, one story, one stitch at a time—until we reach September 11, 2026.

Why? Well… like all great things, there’s a backstory.

And this one goes back twenty-five years.

I’m not going to tell you all of it today. That would defeat the purpose of the stitches.

But I will tell you this: September 11 is not a date I chose because it looked good on a launch calendar. It means something to me. It marks a before and an after. And twenty-five years later, I have decided I don’t want that date to represent only what was lost. I want to give something back.

That decision eventually became something called Patchwork Angels™.

The First 14 Stitches – Stitch 01 of 14, counting up to the Patchwork Angels Android beta launch

WHY COUNT UP?

Because this isn’t about watching days disappear from a calendar. We’re watching something come together. There is a difference.

When life falls apart, we tend to look at the whole mess and think we have to fix everything—the marriage, the family, the finances, the fear, the grief, the trauma, the future. All of it. Right now.

But sometimes that’s impossible. Sometimes you can’t see next year. Sometimes you can’t see next month. Sometimes you’re doing pretty damn good to get through tonight.

I know something about those kinds of nights.

And somewhere along the way, I learned that healing doesn’t always begin with putting everything back together. Sometimes it begins much smaller than that.

One prayer. One truth. One decision. One breath. One stitch.

That’s why we’re counting up. Stitch 01 isn’t one day closer to something being over. It’s the first piece of something being built.

SO WHAT ARE WE BUILDING?

On September 11, Patchwork Angels™ begins its Android Beta.

Patchwork Angels is a free, faith-centered app we’ve created for those moments when somebody needs somewhere to begin. Inside are Scripture, devotionals, journals, audio prayers, encouragement, emergency numbers, and practical resources.

But we’re not pretending we’ve created the finished answer to everything. Far from it. That’s why we’re beginning with a beta. We need real people to put this thing in their hands. Use it. Explore it. Find the things we missed. Tell us what makes sense and what doesn’t. Tell us what helped. Tell us what you went looking for and couldn’t find. Tell us what should come next. Because we’re not interested in building Patchwork Angels for people while never listening to the people who actually need it. We want to build it with them.

And those first people have a name: Founding Patchwork Angels.

We Need More Than Downloads. We Need Angels – invitation to Founding Patchwork Angels Android beta testers

FOURTEEN STITCHES. FOURTEEN WHYS.

Why one stitch? Why patchwork? Why Angels? Why faith? Why an app? Why beta? Why 9/11? Why tell the story? Why give it away free? Why now?

THERE’S MORE TO THIS STORY

A lot more.

There’s a reason for September 11. There’s a reason for the broken pieces. There’s a reason for the gold thread. There’s a reason this app is free. There’s even a reason we’re calling you Angels instead of testers.

We’ll get there. Not today. Today, I only want to show you the first stitch. Look closely at today’s artwork. It isn’t finished. It’s not supposed to be. There are pieces that don’t make sense yet. There are things you haven’t been told yet. There may even be something hidden in there. Tomorrow, something changes. Another piece. Another clue. Another part of the story. Stitch 02. And by the time we reach Stitch 14, you’ll be able to look back at where we started today and see what all those seemingly disconnected pieces became.

Funny thing about patchwork. A single scrap can look pretty useless when you’re holding it by itself. You have to keep stitching before you can see what it belongs to. Maybe life works a little like that, too.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 KJV

This one deserves a real conversation. We’re Not Counting Down. We’re Counting UP. | Stitch 01 of 14 raises the kind of issue people often carry quietly, and silence can make hard things feel even heavier. What part of this message stayed with you after you finished reading? One line of thought from the post that especially deserves reflection is this: THE FIRST 14 STITCHES • STITCH 01 / 14 • AUGUST 29, 2026 We’re Not Counting Down. We’re Counting UP. The idea of turning September 11 from only a marker of loss into an offering of hope is powerful. What does it mean to you to reclaim a painful date by choosing what you build from it?

I love the difference between waiting for a date to arrive and watching something take shape. Does “counting up” change the feeling for you too—more participation, less passive waiting?

What are you counting UP toward right now? Not what you are waiting to be over—what are you actively building, one piece at a time?
